Biometric Authentication process: GST Registration Applicant
Enhanced Biometric Authentication process for applicants
The Goods and Services Tax Network has recently enhanced the biometric authentication process for new GST registration applicants. Previously, applicants identified for biometric-based Aadhaar authentication were required to visit their designated jurisdictional GST Suvidha Kendra for verification. Now promoters and directors of certain businesses can complete this mandatory biometric verification at any GSK within their home state, providing greater flexibility and convenience. This initiative reflects the GSTN’s commitment to enhancing the security and efficiency of the GST registration process, making it more user-friendly for applicants across various states.
This enhancement aims to streamline the Goods and Services Tax Registration process by allowing applicants to choose a Goods and Services Suvidha Kendra location that best suits their convenience, thereby reducing potential delays and logistical challenges associated with visiting specific centers.
Big Update for GST Registration : Promoters & Directors can complete Biometric Authentication at any GST Suvidha Kendra in their Home State instead of their jurisdictional GSK.
Key Points of the Enhanced Biometric Authentication Process:
- Identification for Biometric Authentication: Applicants are identified for biometric-based Aadhaar authentication based on data analysis and risk parameters as per Rule 8 of the Central Goods and Services Tax Rules, 2017.
- GST Notification & Appointment Scheduling: After submitting the GST REG-01 application form, applicants will receive a notification via their registered mobile number or email, instructing them to visit a Goods and Services Tax Suvidha Kendra for biometric authentication. The notification will include details for scheduling an appointment at a Goods and Services Tax Suvidha Kendra of their choice within their home state.
- Required Documentation: Applicants must carry original documents, including Aadhaar and PAN cards, along with any other documents uploaded during the application process, to the GST Suvidha Kendra for verification.
- Application Reference Number Generation: The Application Reference Number will be generated only after successful completion of the biometric authentication and document verification at the Goods and Services Tax Suvidha Kendra.
- GST Suvidha Kendra Operating Days: The operating days and hours of Goods and Services Tax Suvidha Kendra will be as per the guidelines provided by the administration in each state. Applicants are advised to adhere to the timelines provided in their notifications to ensure the completion of the biometric authentication process before the Temporary reference number expires.
