SEBI vide its notification dated 25th July 2022 has made amendments to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (ICDR) Regulations, 2018, and Securities and Exchange Board of India (LODR) Regulations, 2015 to provide Social Enterprises with additional avenues to raise funds through the SSE, which is a novel concept in India. Furthermore, to strengthen the governance framework in these entities, & provide better confidence to such investors, Securities and Exchange Board of India has introduced the concept of an Annual Impact Report by a Social Auditor. This would open up huge professional opportunities to work as Social Auditors.
The role of Social Auditors is still emerging, and as such, there are numerous opportunities for professionals to explore and establish their practice. The field of social auditing presents a range of opportunities for professionals to contribute to the development and sustainability of social enterprises and non-profits. As the concept of Social Auditors gains traction and more organizations register on the SSE, the demand for skilled social auditors is expected to rise significantly. By exploring these practice avenues, Social Auditors can play a pivotal role in ensuring transparency, accountability, and the effective use of funds within the social sector.
