CBDT launched New Income Tax e-filing portal for taxpayers from June 7 & Pay Tax via Credit Card
On the 7th of next month, the Income Tax Department will introduce its new e-filing portal at www.incometax.gov.in. Between June 1 and 6, taxpayers and Income Tax Department officers will be unable to access the existing portal. The new e-filing portal is designed to provide taxpayers with comfortability as well as a modern, seamless experience. The portal is integrated with the immediate processing of Income Tax Returns ITRs, allowing taxpayers to receive quick refunds.
All Kind of interactions, uploads, and pending actions will be exhibited on a single dashboard for the taxpayer’s review and action. New call centre for taxpayer assistance for immediate answers to taxpayer queries with FAQs, Tutorials, Videos, and chatbot or live agent, all key portal functions on desktop will be accessible on Mobile App, which will be facilitated subsequently for full anytime access on mobile network.
For a small period of six days beginning June 1st, the Income Tax Department’s existing portal at www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in would be unavailable to taxpayers and other external stakeholders in preparation for this launch and migration activities.
According to the Income Tax Department, taxpayers are encouraged to complete all urgent tasks involving any submission, upload, or downloads before June 1st, 2021 in order to avoid any difficulties during the blackout period.
Key Highlight of Launch new e-filing Portal of the Income Tax Department
- Introduce of the Income Tax Department’s new e-filing Portal – Non-availability of e-filing services from 01.06.2021 to 06.06.2021
- On June 7, 2021, the Income Tax Department will introduce its new e-filing portal.
- The new e-filing portal is developed to provide taxpayers with convenience and a modern, seamless experience:
- A new taxpayer-friendly portal integrated with immediate processing of Income Tax Returns (ITRs) to provide taxpayers with fast refunds.
- All communications, uploads, and pending actions will be exhibited on a single dashboard for taxp’s follow-up action.
- Free 1TR preparation software is available online and offline, with interactive questions to assist taxpayers in filling out ITRs even if they have no tax knowledge, as well as pre-filling to reduce data entry effort.
- A new call center for taxpayer assistance, with FAQs, Tutorials, Videos, and a chat box/live agent, to furnish immediate answers to taxpayer questions.
- All functions at the portal on the desktop will be available on the Mobile App, which will be enabled later for full mobile network access at any time.
- A new online tax payment mechanism on a new portal will be enabled later, with multiple new payment options including net banking, RTGS/NEFT and UPI, credit card from any taxpayer’s account in any bank, for simplified tax payment.
- All the preparation for this launch & migration process activities, the inco e tax Dept’s existing portal at would be unavailable to taxpayers and other outer stakeholders for a brief period of 6 days, with effect from June 1st to June 6th, 2021.
- To avoid any inconvenience to taxpayers, the Income tax Dept will not set any compliance dates during this time period.
- In addition, instructions have been issued to limit hearings of cases or compliances to the 10th of June, 2021, to permit taxpayers time to respond to the new mechanism.
- If any hearing or compliance that requires online submissions is scheduled during this period, it will be postponed or adjourned, and the work items will be rescheduled after this period.
- The income tax Dept. has also informed external entities, such as banks, MCA, CBIC, GeM, GSTN, DPIIT, & DGFT, about the non-availability of the services & asked them to make arrangements to ensure that their stakeholders customers are informed, so that any relevant activity can be completed prior to or after the blackout period.
- In the portal Income tax Taxpayers are encouraged to complete all urgent activity which involving any submission, upload, or download before June 15, 2021, in order to avoid any problems during the this blackout period of tax portal.
- The Department requests that all taxpayers and other stakeholders be patient during the transition to the new e-filing portal and the subsequent initial period as they become familiar with the new mechanism.
- This is yet another initiative by Central Board of Direct Taxes to make compliance easier for its taxpayers and other stakeholders.
- To avoid causing taxpayers any disruption, the Income tax dept will not set any compliance dates during the 6 day blackout period of tax portal. Moreover, it has issued instructions to limit hearings of cases or compliances to June 10 and later to give taxpayers time to respond to the new mechanism. If any hearing or compliance that requires online submissions is scheduled during this period, it will be put on hold or adjourned, and the work items will be rescheduled after this period, according to the statement.
